Neuropuzzles EEG session
December 14th, 2007
I did a biofeedback session last night using the EEG design and neuropuzzles. It worked well. Since this design is supposed to be “quiet” with as little interaction from Alicia as possible, I tried to reduce the amount of talking I did with Alicia. I assume that this will be the practice when I use this design. However, I hope that Bill and Marvin will be able to try the neuropuzzles and advise me how to proceed.
Since I now have some original session data from the very beginning, I can compare this to what more recent sessions show that Bill has done and that I have done. I am concerned that my sessions are off some how. But I won’t know that until I analyze the session data and compare.
Since then and still learning

I had a chance last night to go to the biofeedback session that Bill does with our daughter. It had been weeks since I had an opportunity to go. He did an EEG session and I noted the numbers. His stabilized around 33/60/13 whereas mine have been around 60/40/12. I tried to determine why mine were different. First, each system is different and each set of electrodes is different and cannot be expected to yield the same results. The difference could also be my lack of experience in placing the electrodes. So, next week I will bring my neuroband and we will see if my placement is correct and then see what the numbers are with Bill’s setup.
I did note that I do not prepare the ground electrode and put goop on it as I should do. I will make sure I do this the next time I do this session at home and check out the numbers then.
Just as an aside, the middle number will increase when the client becomes vocal during the session. So, when Alicia sings along or talks, the number will increase.
And, it’s not the raw numbers that matter. It is the differential that matters and that the training is going in the right direction. In our case, we want to increase all 3 levels.
Get your head in the game

It’s been a hectic week and there is a lot I need to do. Alicia’s tomitis therapy winds up today. We’ve transferred the quantitative EEG therapy to someone more local but will still need to see Dr. Berman once a month. Just trying to make our lives a little less complicated. With this new location in Drexel Hill and Media, I won’t have to be the taxi and so won’t have to leave work early. I can now use that time for other personal things (fun things – actual days off to spend with my family).
We were looking to go to Hershey Park or Dorney Park. Maybe we’ll actually do some things we only talked about last year. Who knows?
Disney’s “High School Musical” is back on the scene. Last night was the concert on TV. It still brings a smile and tear to my face. I do get emotional about a lot of things. We are looking forward to the High School Musical2 that will be coming in August. And “the show” will be coming to the Academy of Music in June/July. I don’t know if we are ready to take our daughter to this type of venue.
Tabitha has now been accepted to Villanova’s grad school. She is still waiting for a couple more before making her final decision. I am so proud of her.
I have been working on a theme for Vanilla and learning. I am trying to port the WP Foliage theme which has a js/css shelf. I do have it working partly and need some additional answers to get it completed. I really need to think about usability, though, as a forum is not the same as a blog.
We need to get the “special needs fund” process moving. I think I have all the needed paperwork to initiate the call (again) to the lawyer we were referred to. We should also meet with the mom who gave us the reference to discuss – to become a little more knowledgeable.
Mother’s Day is next week and we plan on seeing my Mom and doing something. Don’t know what yet. Tomorrow is pizza lunch with the Chester County Autism Support group. Should be fun as usual.
We got our income tax refund. Now I can plan on either fixing my poor car or looking for a good used one within this budget (which is probably not possible).
